From Death (Large; Martial)
"that is not dead with can forever lie,
and with strange aeons, even death may die..." - H. P. Lovecraft
One night, the Drow high priestess Garenn'zin Il'i'th received a vision from Lolth. In this vision, a female blackguard appeared before her saying she must once again prove her loyalty and worthiness in worship of the Spider Queen. The blackguard said that she would appear to Garenn'zin in 3 years time to see if she has completed the creation of a reliquary worthy of Lolth. If the reliquary was satisfactory, the blackguard would be Garenn'zin's general against the races of the light and the Underdark, wielding the relic as a standard for all Drow to assemble under, joining in the crusades without a second thought.
When the vision ended, Garenn'zin headed to the artisan's district of Menzoberanzen and contracted every weaponsmith, alchemist and designer she could hire. As a tribute to Lolth's desire to cause endless suffering to any non-Drow, Garenn'zin would forge a weapon through genocide, slaughtering countless beings of all races to create a single instrument of pure agonizing evil.
Elves, humans, dwarves, halflings, and other races were slain to create this one weapon, giving validity to its true name written in Drow "Velve ilharnus da'mzil elghinnen" which means "Sword birthed from many deaths." Though it has also been known by the few sages and outsiders familiar with it as simply "From Death." The weapon's blade comes from the blood of dwarves and metallic dragons, the hilt from half-orc bone, the grip's wrapping from the hair of scalped elves, the Drow inscription written in Gearenn'zin's own blood, etc. A flawlessly beautiful onyx cut into the shape of an ornate black widow with a fused ruby for the hourglass is housed in the center of the hilt.
Anyone but an utterly evil individual that tries to use this weapon is dealt 5d10 points of damage (save DC 35) and will continue to suffer an additional 2d20 points of damage each round they try to use it. In the hands of an evil person From Death functions as a +5 vile screaming greatsword with the following additional powers:
-- Caster may cast any vile spell they know suffering only half the corruption cost.
-- Sadism in effect as long as From Death is being used.
-- +10 circumstance bonus to Intimidate checks.
-- +5 DC to save vs. spells you cast with Fear or Pain effects.
-- Good creatures within 10 feet of From Death receive a -4 morale penalty to attack rolls, saving throws and skill checks.
-- +5 bonus to Charisma-based skills used to influence evil Elves.
-- Any Drow not normally proficient with this weapon may use it without penalty. Drow proficient with the greatsword may use this weapon in one hand without penalties to attack rolls.
