Misericord (Small; Simple)
I'll put you out of my misery...
This long thin-bladed dagger is also known as the 'Caress of Mercy'. It is designed to slip between the spaces of armor. The blade is held perpendicular to the ridge of the subject's armor and thrust forward at an angle. It slides between the narrow gap and slips effortlessly past armor plates and through chainmail to the body underneath.
A successful attack with a misericord requires you be within less than five-feet of your opponent. Normal attacks with this weapon are carried out during movement as you pass through your opponent's five-foot square. As such, attempting to strike an opponent provokes an Attack of Opportunity. If the opponent does not perform an AoO they receive a Reflex save versus this weapon. The DC is equal to your Base Attack Bonus plus 8 (if the misericord is masterwork, +1 to the DC. If it has a weapon enhancement, add that bonus to the DC). Striking your opponent with the misericord from five feet changes the critical range to x2 and damage to 1d4.
You must have the Weapon Finesse feat to apply your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier to attack rolls with a misericord.
Due to the thinness of the blade, there is always a 50% chance the blade will snap in two with every successful hit or fumble.
