By Densetsu- Eiyuu at http://www.d20forge.com Buster Sword (Large; Exotic)"Did you see that?!?" History: when this sword was found and first wielded by Cloud in FF VII, its owner was a man named Zack. His spirit still lives inside the sword. Even though Cloud is the one who first used it, it never grew with him because it wasn't meant for him. The whole reason the sword was forged was lost to time, and it has only been recently that the blade was discovered. It lies at the bottom of a cave at the very end of the world, waiting for the chosen one to come reclaim it. Physical Description: this sword is an artifact; you need your DM's approval to use this sword (DMs, only one per campaign). This is a very, very big sword. It is about five and a half feet tall and about a foot wide. It has an integrated hilt and two round holes right above the hilt, about 6 inches into the blade from the edge and the base of the hilt. The holes can be used to house small gems holding a certain type of spell. A character using this weapon adds 2.5 times his Strength bonus to damage rolls (this weapon is always masterwork granting it a +1 bonus to attack rolls). Once a character obtains this artifact, he/she can change the gems at will, provided that both or no spots are left empty. This item grows with the user, although no magic creates this effect. The weapon grows as follows: initially the sword has 2 slots for elemental gems; once the weapon accumulates 13,000 XP, it gains a slot. The weapon gains experience as a weapon familiar(doesn't count as one though); the next slot therefore would appear when the sword accumulates another 26,000 XP meaning that by the time the third slot appears, it has a total XP of 39,000. Just add an extra 13,000 XP to find when it gets the last slot. The slots appear overnight and seemingly out of nowhere, the reason for this is the spirit inside the sword that affects who shall be the next to wield it and slot creation. As the sword and character grow in experience, more slots become available to a maximum of 5; when fully maxed out this weapon deals {2d10+2.5 Str mod.; +2d6 fire, ice, acid, sonic, and electricity damage}; anything struck by this sword must make a successful Fortitude save (DC 10 +damage dealt) or be knocked prone; if the total damage from the fully upgraded weapon exceeds 50, the save DC increases by 5, and two saves are required, the second one is at -5 DC to see if you are knocked prone, the first to see if you die from massive damage, I reccommend this being used in Epic campaign settings ignoring the death from massive damage rule, because that would call for some pretty tough monsters and/or boring, dull campaigns and no one wants that. Requirements: character size Medium or greater; Mako-Touched template; Str 20+; Dex 18+; BAB +20 or higher Characters that do not have the Mako-Touched template can use this sword albeit at a -4 penalty to attack and damage rolls, for every level below 21st. Characters with the Mako-Touched template but not at level 21+, can use the sword, albeit at a -2 penalty to attack and damage rolls, for every level below 21st. Gemstones: the holes that house the elemental gems can be outfitted with any of the following to a maximum of two: A)- Fire, blade deals an additional +2d6 worth of fire damage; B)- Ice, blade deals an additional +2d6 worth of cold damage; C)- Earth, blade deals an additional +2d6 worth of acid damage; D)- Wind, blade deals an additional +2d6 worth of sonic damage, E)- Storm, blade deals an additional +2d6 worth of electricticy damage. Each gemstone has a market value of 1,200 gp {gemstones - caster level 21st, XP- 1,250, DC 36}. |
