Flower Petal Armor (Light)
The battlefield was a jumble of bodies, but Jarel was easy to pick out amongst the throng, his red armor of flowers standing out vividly, compared to the stark black and white of the other soldiers' armor.
Harvested from flowers, which then go through an alchemical process that hardens them, flower petal armor is a light and durable version of scalemail armor consisting of overlapping flower petals. The type of flower the petals are harvested from makes no difference, though most such armors tend to be made from a single type of flower, the uniform petal sizes making them easier to craft. After harvesting the petals {Profession (gardening) DC 20}, the petals go through an alchemical process {Alchemy DC 25} that hardens and laquers them. The petals are then sewn onto a thick linen similar to wool {Craft (tailoring) DC 25}.
Being that these petals are no longer living plantlife, spells and effects that target plants do not affect this armor. Also, being that this armor is not ferrous, it is immune to rust and rusting effects. Water tends to roll off the armor very easily, making the need for a cloak disappear in all but the most torrential of downpours.
Flower petal armor can also be made in a Medium and Heavy armor type. The stats listed here are for light armor. To adjust for medium or heavy armor simply do the following for each armor category away from light: add +1 AC bonus, -2 max Dex bonus, armor check penalty increases by -2, arcane spell failure increases by 12%, the weight increases by 4 pounds, and the cost increases by 500gp. The Craft (tailoring) DC also increases by +5 for each size category beyond light. So a medium armor would have an AC bonus of +5, max Dex of +4, armor check penalty of -3, arcane spell failure of 17%, a weight of 9 pounds and cost 1000gp.
